T & J Country Soaps Ltd. began as a hobby
in 1998 for Teresa Heringer and her mother Joyce Lemke. As
the soap was a hit with family and friends, the demand blossomed,
and the hobby became a home based business located at Gull
Lake , AB.
There was a desire to develop a natural, gentle
home-made soap that would be good for sensitive skin and
also be helpful for people suffering from eczema, psoriasis,
acne, and dry skin. All of the soaps contain goat's milk,
which is highly moisturizing, and is very beneficial for
the above mentioned skin conditions. The presence of amino
acids, proteins, vitamins and minerals in goat's milk are
very conducive to healthy skin.
Natural ingredients such
as flower petals and wild and tame herbs are grown and
handpicked on the farm, to be dried and used in the soaps.
These natural ingredients give added benefits and fragrances
to the soaps that can't be obtained in commercial soaps.
Pure essential oils and fragrance oils are also used.
All of our soaps contain goats milk, distilled
water, saponified oils of olive, coconut, lard and tallow. At present,
about 38 varieties of goat's milk soaps are available.
Several varieties of hand milled goat's milk soaps are also
made. These have gone through the cooking process twice,
and are very high in glycerin content, and are considered
our luxurious bars.
All of the soaps will outlast commercially
made soaps by about two or three times, and all except the
coffee and gardener's soaps, can be used for shaving and
shampooing. The soaps are available at several gift shops,
farmer's markets, and craft and trade fairs throughout central
Alberta . We have also expanded our product line to include
natural Lip Balms, Sea Salt Therapies, Hand & Foot Scrubs,
and our Nature's Way Healing Ointments.
